Get Great Deals On Amazon With Their Warehouse & Outlet Section

Save Money

Introduction

The famous retail giant known as Amazon already gives us great deal on products and everyday items that we need. Yet there’s two sections on the Amazon page that a lot of people don’t know about: Amazon Warehouse & Amazon Outlet.

They both give you great discounts on products that you can normally find on Amazon, so what makes them so different? Find out by reading below.

What Is Amazon Warehouse?

Amazon Warehouse is the section on Amazon that offers you great deals and discounts on products that were either returned, used, warehouse-damaged, or refurbished products. All of their products are still in good and working condition, but they do not meet up to Amazon’s high standards of being considered a new product. Something was altered along the way, and this could be as simple as someone opening the box and not wanting the item anymore.

Every product is checked for functionality and physical condition before being listed on the Amazon Warehouse Page. If the product doesn’t work, it will not be shown. Unlike the Amazon homepage, the products listed under the Warehouse section cannot be guaranteed to be in stock since they don’t do a regular scheduling of receiving new inventory.

What Condition Are The Products Actually In?

To be cautious and safe about your Amazon Warehouse purchase, you should consider all products as “used.” This means that the product could have been used in any way, shape or form by another consumer, but still maintains its original functionality and physical condition. For example, a camera might have been used to take one picture and then placed back in the box because the consumer didn’t like the quality.

Before each product is placed for sale, Amazon does all sorts of testing and does their best to state the specific condition that the product is in. Sometimes you’ll get a product that functions perfectly, but the physical condition isn’t perfect i.e. minor scratches. However, if it doesn’t function perfectly, it will not be listed.

There are 4 types of conditions that are listed in the Amazon Warehouse. You’ll usually find that the poorer the condition, the cheaper the item is listed for.

  • New – Brand new, but the packaging might be damaged.
  • Like New – The product is new in every way except that it might have been used by the customer. This means that the physical condition and functionality are flawless, but a customer might have used the item so few times that it maintained its original state, or it could be that the box was simply opened.
  • Very Good – The item still works perfectly, but there are some minor scratches or blemishes.
  • Good – Same as the Very Good condition, but the cosmetic damages are a little more severe with large scratches or blemishes. The functionality is still maintained.
  • Acceptable – Even larger cosmetic damages may be seen or third-party items might be missing such as an instruction manual or a cord. However, the product still functions as intended. Remember, if it doesn’t maintain functionality, it won’t be listed.

If you’re still curious and want more details as to what is considered “New,” “Very Good,” etc, Amazon gives you examples and more details with pictures found here.

Are The Deals Worth It?

Here are two examples of some products I’ve purchased so far on Amazon Warehouse for you to compare how big of a deal you’re getting. I’ve only bought products that are in the condition of being Very Good or higher, so I’ve never noticed any large cosmetic damages, yet all products I’ve received function properly and I’ve never had a problem.

1. TP-LINK TL-WR841N Wireless N300 Home Router

Originally listed for $19.99, I was able to snag this one in Like New condition for just $16.49.

I personally would feel safe buying products under any condition except for Acceptable. This is mostly because there may be third-party objects missing that are necessary to make the product work as intended.

What Is Amazon Outlet?

Amazon Outlet is just like any other brick-and-mortar store. There’s no middleman to raise prices. Instead, outlet stores sell their stock directly to the customer, and that’s why you can usually find merchandise at a much cheaper price.

All of the items displayed on this section of the page are considered brand new and have no packaging damages. The only difference between this page and the Amazon homepage is the price.

Sometimes you can find discounts of up to 70% on specific items, which is why I highly recommend looking here first before anything, even before Amazon Warehouse. The deals are greater and you don’t have to worry about receiving used products.

Keep in mind that product stock and range of products is usually much lower compared to the normal Amazon page, but you can still find a wide array of items listed.

Are The Deals Worth It?

Again, we’ve put together a couple of samples to show you the deals that you can find on Amazon Outlet. There tends to be a lot of music equipment more than anything.

1. 38″ Black Acoustic Guitar Starter Package (Guitar, Gig Bag, Strap, Pick)

I remember a few years ago that I once bought a guitar at a pawn shop to save some money. It was in decent condition, and I had snagged it for just $40 dollars. This guitar, however, is brand new and is marked down nearly 50%. Instead of $74.95 it’s down to just $39.82. This one even comes with a case, strap, extra strings, and a pic!

Final Thoughts

The only real downside that I can see in comparison to the normal Amazon page with their Outlet and Warehouse sections is that the availability of product won’t be as large. However, if you’re looking for a particular class of item, but not a specific model, I suggest looking in these two places first.

Amazon Outlet usually has greater deals, but it’s going to be rare that you find the same product on both outlet and regular Amazon. Warehouse has the same products on Amazon, but they are considered to be used or open-box.

Take note that when shopping on Amazon.com, both Warehouse and Outlet deals will appear when you search for a product (Warehouse appears under “used”). Yet by going to these sections directly, you are only going to see discounted items, making it much easier to search for and to know what type of discounts you’re getting.
