5 Steps To Save 16 – 20% On All Barnes & Noble Products

Want to Earn Some Extra Money?

If you like saving money on books or shopping at Barnes & Noble, you can save up to 15% on all purchases by following just 5 simple steps. Make sure to follow these steps in order so that you can maximize the amount of cash back earned.

1. Get A Cash Back Credit Card

We’re going to want a credit card that can help us get the maximum amount of cash back on all purchases regardless of category. Recently the Blispay Visa Credit Card was released, and it gives you 2% cash back on all purchases no matter what they are.

There’s no annual fee and the cash back is automatically applied to your statement each month. Not only that, but all transactions over $199 automatically qualify for 6-months free financing as long as you pay the minimum balance.

Here’s a quick glance at the card:

  • No annual fee
  • 2% cash back on all purchases
  • Cash back automatically applied as statement credit
  • Eligible with Apple Pay
  • 6 months free financing on purchases over $199

2. Get A Discounted Gift Card

There are numerous gift card resellers that sell Barnes & Noble gift cards at a significant discount. The reseller that gives the highest discount is Cardpool. They currently sell Barnes & Noble Gift Cards at 10.5% off their retail value. Keep in mind that these rates change depending on the day, and that Cardpool may not always have the highest discount for this particular retailer.

A great way to check which website has the highest discount on a gift card for a given retailer is by using a free online resource called Gift Card Granny. Simply type in the retailer’s name and a list will appear of all gift cards with their associated discounts at each gift card reseller. Just be sure to use the cash back credit card mentioned above to get that extra 2% off of your gift card.

E-Gift cards usually only take a few hours to arrive in your inbox, but they can take as long as 24 hours.

3. Go Through A Portal For The Gift Card

We can actually save an additional 2% on our gift card purchase by first going through what’s called a cash back portal. These portals are online websites that pay you in the form of cash back for using their affiliate links to make online purchases. Each time you click a link, there’s a cookie placed in your browser that tracks your purchase. The portal receives this information and places money into your account.

The amount of cash back you can received is completely dependent on the portal you’re using, as different portals give different rates. When shopping at Cardpool, the portal that gives the best rate is TopCashBack. They give 2% cash back when you buy a gift card using their links to Cardpool and 4% for every gift card you sell. Not only that, but you also get a $10 bonus just for signing-up.

Click on the “Get Cashback Now” link to be redirected to the Cardpool site where you can make your purchase. You’ll receive the 10.5% discount from the card and then an additional 2% from the portal, and then 2% more from the credit card we’re using. Once your account hits a minimum of $10 in cash back you can withdraw it in the form of PayPak, a check, American Express Gift Cards or Amazon Gift Card (the last two give you a 3% cash out bonus).

4. Go Back Through A Portal

We can go through the portal once more to save additional cash on our final purchase. Again, TopCashBack takes the cake when shopping at Barnes & Noble. You get 6% cash back on physical products and 2% cash back on all other purchases.

Even if you don’t want to have your product shipped to you, there’s a way to request in-store pickup upon checkout so that you can physically get it. You’ll still receive your cash back.

5. Add It Up

Let’s do a quick recap of how much cash back we’ve earned on our Barnes & Noble purchase.

  • 2% cash back from the Blispay Credit Card
  • 2% cash back using the TopCashBack portal for Cardpool
  • 10.5% discount from buying a gift card from Cardpool
  • 2% – 6% cash back by going through the portal for our final purchase

If we add this all up, we’ve saved anywhere from 16.5% – 20.5% on our Barnes & Noble purchase.

Final Thoughts

Even if you can’t apply for a credit card, you should be able to get a minimum of 14% in cash back by skipping the first step on this list. If you don’t want to make an online purchase or just want to buy a gift card for a friend or family member, you can always skip step 4 that requires you to make your purchase online. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to leave them below. Keep in mind that these steps can be used for all purchases at major retailers, not just Barnes & Noble. Thanks for reading and happy frugaling!
