5 Steps To Save 8% On Fuel At All 76 Gas Stations

We recently published on article on how you can easily save 10% on all Shell stations, but smaller cities don’t even have a Shell station. Furthermore, I sometimes find that their prices are slightly higher than other stations. If you have a 76 gas station in your area, find out how you can get 8% off of all fuel.

Just make sure to follow all steps of this article in order. Even if you think that a step doesn’t make sense at first, it will by the time you get to the end of this guide. Let’s get started.

1. Get A Cash Back Credit Card

Like all of the articles on FFL that tell you how to get cash back, the first step always begins with getting a cash back credit card that gives you the highest amount of cash back on all purchases. One credit card that does this for us is the Citi Double Cash Card. It gives you 1% cash back when you make a purchase, and 1% back when you pay your bill for a total of 2% cash back.

With no annual fee, there’s really no downside to at least applying for the card. Here’s a quick overview of what it has to offer:

Apply Now

  • No annual fee
  • First late payment waived
  • 2% cash back on all purchases
  • No cap to the amount of cash back earned
  • Incredible Citi Benefits
  • Free concierge service

If you’re not interested in this card or would prefer to go with an American Express Card, you can read our review of a comparison of the 2 best cash back on all purchases credit cards. Otherwise, we recommend going with Discover while they still have their double cash back promotion going on. If you apply before September 30th, you have the chance to get 2% – 10% cash back on all purchases.

2. Sign-Up For Cardpool

This step requires you to register for a new account on a gift card vendor website called Cardpool. This company buys gift cards at a discount and then sells them to you at a price cheaper than their full retail value. You can read about reputable gift card vendors here.

This step only requires you to sign-up for an account, but we don’t want to go any further than that (which you’ll see why later). To register, you can click this link here. Click on the “Sign Up” link at the top of the page and enter your name and email to get going.

3. Sign-Up For TopCashBack

Again, like the previous step, this one requires that you only sign-up for an account. This time we’re going to be registering for a cash back portal called TopCashBack. These portals are online websites that pay you to use their referral links when shopping at one of thousands of online retailers (Walmart, Amazon, etc). If you want to learn more about online cash back portals, you can view our top 10 choices here.

To sign-up for a TopCashBack account, click this link here. Click the “Sign Up” button in the upper-right-hand corner of the page and enter in your information. You’ll need to verify your information. Take note that you can use TopCashBack for any retailer that you find in their database, not just or getting cash back when following the steps in this guide.

4. Go To Cardpool Through TopCashBack

Now that we have both a TopCashBack and Cardpool account, we can finally get started on making our purchase. On the TopCashBack page, type in “Cardpool” in the search bar. Notice that you’ll receive 2% cash back on all purchases made on Cardpool. This amount will be directly deposited into your TopCashBack account. Once you reach a minimum of $20 dollars, you can have it deposited to your PayPal account or have a check sent directly to you.

When you click on the “Cashback” button, you’ll be automatically redirected to the Cardpool website where you can make your final purchase.

5. Make Your Final Purchase

Now that you’re on the Cardpool website, you can make your final purchase. Type in “76” in their search box, and you’ll notice that most of the time they’ll have these gift cards on sale for 4% off.

Click on “Add To Cart” and go through the final checkout process to get your card. Just be sure to use your Citi Double Cash Back Card that we explained in step 1 when making the purchase. Most of the 76 Gas gift cards that they sell are physical cards only, but once in a while you’ll find electronic ones. Egift cards take up to 24 hours to get sent to your inbox while physical ones can take up to 7 business days.

Let’s Do A Quick Recap

Let’s quickly recap how much we are getting in cash back, and the steps to do this.

Add this all up, and we have a total cash back savings of 8%! That’s a pretty good deal for just a few simple steps. That means on the current gas price of around $3 dollars/gallon, you’re saving roughly 25 cents on each gallon.

Conclusion

You can also follow these steps to get cash back and discounts when buying gift cards to different retailers as well. As for gas stations, it’s unlikely that you’re going to find a gift card over 4% off on gift card reseller websites.
