8 Amazon Services You Can Use To Make Money

Want to Earn Some Extra Money?

Everyone knows that Amazon is one of the greatest retailers on the web. What most might not know is that there are a lot of services you can utilize to make money in unique and different ways. Here are 7 that you can use to make some extra cash. Let us know if you know of one that’s not on the list.

1. Amazon Marketplace

Amazon Marketplace is basically like eBay without the auctions. If you have a product that you want to sell, you can list it on their marketplace in hopes that someone will buy something for a higher price than you paid. What a lot of sellers do is buy their products for cheap on Alibaba and resell them for a profit.

If you do go that route, we recommend ordering a sample first on AliExpress to see if you’re promoting a product of high quality. A lot of the products that they have for sale are sometimes cheap for reason, meaning they break really easily. Buyers will take notice and leave you poor reviews, and then no one else will be interested in buying your product.

Keep in mind that a lot of work will go into this, such as finding and researching a product, packaging the product, reaching out to buyers, marketing, etc. However, it can be extremely profitable if you have a high markup and product that sells really well.

2. Merch By Amazon

Merch by Amazon is a service that helps you sell t-shirts with your own, personal design at no startup cost. You upload the design and promote your product while Amazon takes care of the printing and shipping. In doing so, they earn a commission close to 50% – 55% of whatever you sell your shirt for.

Just be sure that your design is family-friendly and not offensive in any way or form. In order to help you promote your t-shirt, Amazon also has specific tools for marketing and sales. These tools were originally created for gaming companies to quickly create t-shirts for their employees, but quickly turned into something much bigger.

The trick is to create a really unique design that you feel like a lot of people will buy. Reach out to potential buyers and get high reviews in order to move up in ranking on the Amazon seller page.

3. Amazon Associates

Amazon Associates is what the FFL blog uses. If you have a blog or website that promotes Amazon products of any kind, you can put an affiliate link attached to it. If someone clicks on it and buys something off of Amazon, you earn a small commission.

The commission levels vary depending on the amount of products that you sell. If you sell under 6 in a month, you earn just 4% of the total that you sell. If you sell more than 6, you get 6% with the potential to reach as high as 8% commission. Yet to reach the maximum level you’ll need to sell into the thousands each month.

One way to combine Amazon Associates with other services (such as selling a t-shirt through Amazon) is to create your own site with a link to your t-shirt design. This way you earn a profit on the t-shirt you sell and you get a commission bonus. You can’t do much better than that.

Furthermore, it doesn’t matter what they buy. If you’re promoting phones but they click on your link and buy clothing, you still earn a commission.

4. Amazon Homemade

Amazon Homemade is a fairly recent service that helps promote homemade and high-quality crafts. If there’s something that you make in your spare time that your family and friends like, consider selling it for some side cash or turn it into a small business.

In order to qualify, your product cannot be mass produced and you can’t have an employee count of over 100. Products that you can sell include jewelry, knitted clothing, stationary supplies and much more. There’s also a seller platform in order to help you promote your product.

Each time you sell a product, Amazon takes a 12% fee. This is because Amazon provides you with discounted shipping, fraud protection and marketing services. What’s really great is that you have an Amazon Associates account, you’ll get a bonus on the commission earned when you put links on your site.

Instead of the maximum of 8% with Amazon Associates, if you participate in Amazon Homemade you get 10% commission no matter how many products you sell. For this reason we highly recommend setting up your own website and then link to your Amazon product to earn more cash.

5. Amazon Underground

Are you a developer? Amazon Underground is meant as a free place to download apps that would otherwise cost you money. If you’re into playing games or testing our really cool games, I highly recommend you check it out. What you might see on the App Store for $1.99 will be free on the Amazon Page.

Even though you’re not selling your app for anything when you place it on Amazon, you still earn $.002 cents per download. It’s not a lot of cash, but it does add up if you get a lot of buyers. For every 1,000,000 downloads, you get $2,000. It’s up for you to decide if it’s worth it or not.

There are currently over $10,000 in apps listed for sale in a range of different categories ranging from education and games to sports and weather apps. In order to get started you’ll need to download the Amazon Underground App via their website.

6. Amazon Flex

Hate your current job and live in a big city? You might want to try out Amazon Flex. Instead of Amazon shipping their own goods, you could do it for them and earn anywhere from $18 – $25 per hour. You need to be 21 years old, own a car with the ability to drive and have an Android phone.

Even if you don’t want to quit your job, it’s definitely a great way to make some side money or is perfect for student. You can deliver products 7 days a week and choose to work between 2, 4, 8 and 12 hour blocks of time. Keep in mind that this service is slowly expanding, so if it’s not available in your city right now it may be in the near future.

7. Amazon Trade-In

If you’re a great bargain shopper and love going to thrift stores or buying things on Craigslist, you can use Amazon Trade-In to buy used products and sell them for a profit. The quality of your item is extremely important, so make sure you’re not buying some piece of junk.

You can always check what the product will sell for before you decide to buy it. Simply type in the product that you’re looking to purchase and see how much you can trade it in for. The only problem is that you’ll receive Amazon credit instead of cash.

One of the best-selling products that I’ve found for this service tend to be iPhones. As long as they’re properly working, you can usually trade-in an iPhone 5 for near $100. Some of these are selling on Craigslist for just $50.

8. Kindle Direct Publishing

If you’re a writer or have an ebook waiting to be published, sell it on Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publisher page. Your book will appear worldwide within just 48 hours and you still can earn 70% on royalties when you sell to the US or countries abroad. You can control your own prices and promote your product to make more sales.

Like we mentioned above for their Merch by Amazon, make your own website and you can earn commission from selling your book by using Amazon Associates – place an affiliate link to your book and earn an average of 6% commission depending on the amount of books you sell.

Final Thoughts

Amazon is more than just a retail site for high-quality and well-price products. If you take full advantage of their services you can make some decent money. If you have any strategies about using these services or would like to promote your product, feel free to leave it down below. Thanks for reading any happy frugaling!
