HealthyWage Review 2020 : Get Paid Up To $10,000 To Lose Weight

HealthyWage Review 2020 : Get Paid Up To $10,000 To Lose Weight
Jennifer Leach Mar 5, 2020
Want to Earn Some Extra Money?

This HealthyWage review covers how it works, if it’s a scam or legit and how much you can actually earn.

Losing weight can be tough.

Food can be a real addiction and navigating this addiction being faced with all your favorites takes real will power.

So many factors come into play from motivation, temptation, your support system, and more.

Not to mention, losing weight can be really expensive, believe it or not.

There are:

  • Pricey meal plans
  • Gym memberships
  • The cost of at-home gym equipment
  • And, more!

Why Is Losing Weight So Difficult?

First, you have expensive meal plans.

Because for a lot of people, to lose weight, the process needs to be simple and it can be simplified if someone else is picking out your food, preparing it, and cooking your meals for you.

But, that can be super pricey.

Since college, I’ve put on some weight, through working in a corporate environment, working long hours, spending less time exercising, and balancing a busy schedule and life.

I’ve tried around half a dozen weight loss programs with pre-made food and the cost for one person can equal the entire household grocery budget!

So, it’s a tradeoff.

Simple but expensive.

Then, dreaded gym memberships.

You have to feel confident enough to show up at the gym in the first place, then pay up to $150/month (per person) to exercise!

The last gym membership I signed up for I got at a bargain at around $25/month.

It was a 24-hour gym with less amenities than a full gym (no sauna, no steam room, no basketball courts, etc.) and I only went 3 times in an entire year!
What a waste of money, right?

During that time, my husband who’s a hardcore gym buff, belonged to a competitor gym at a whopping $120/month!

It came equipped with a tanning salon, sauna and steam room, multiple sports courts, therapeutic massage service, and other amenities.

Fortunately, There Are Local Fitness Options:

  • Community fitness centers (in your apartment complex, HOA, etc.)
  • Walking or working out in your neighborhood
  • Exercise videos at home (on YouTube, cable TV, streaming services, etc.)

So there are alternatives for exercise that do not require an expensive gym membership.

Then, there’s costly gym equipment, like treadmill, elliptical, free weights, etc.

It’s convenient to have gym equipment at home, sure, but at the cost, it’s unattainable for many people.

In fact a lot of retailers that sell gym equipment offer credit options and payment plans because the cost is so high.

You can skip this by taking advantage of the many free exercise options we shared above.

That’s exactly what my family does now.

We walk and jog in the neighborhood plus, there’s a free community center with treadmill, exercise machines, and more.

What if there was an option to lose weight, get support, and make money?

Would you take advantage?

It’s a way to motivate you to stick to your goals and get paid up to $10,000 to lose weight!

Would that light a fire under you?

It certainly would keep me going.

There’s got to be some catch, right?

Nope, not with this company that we’re sharing.

Meet HealthyWage, a weight loss website that makes you put your money where your mouth is, literally.

They came up with a smart, unique way to incentivize their members to lose weight.

By paying them!

Keep reading to learn all about HealthyWage and how you can actually get paid to lose weight!

In this HealthyWage review, we cover how it works, how much you can earn and if it’s worth it or not.

What is HealthyWage?

HealthyWage is a website that encourages weight loss by putting financial incentive behind it!

Make a personal weight loss bet, get your friends together to join in and even form a team for a weight loss challenge or take advantage of a corporate wellness program.

Get paid to lose weight!

There are tons of ways to participate in HealthyWage!

They came up with a clever way to help motivate people to lose weight: money!

Through research it has been found that challenges and games are awesome weight loss tools.

Games and challenges add a fun element, while holding participants accountable and helping you reach your weight loss goals.

They use cash prizes to help the weight loss process be more fun and super effective.

Making a healthy wager lets you make a personalized wager, or bet on your weight loss.

And you can win cash prizes up to $10,000.

There’s so much flexibility with HealthyWage.

No strict diet or fitness plans.

No stressful weight loss meetings.

You pick your diet.

You pick your fitness.

And use HealthyWage to encourage you to lose weight and meet your target, through a healthy wager!

How Does HealthyWage Work?

Here is how HealthyWage works:

1. Make a Healthy Wager (a weight loss bet)

You make a bet on your weight loss and compete against other healthy wage participants either individually or part of a team, in order to achieve your goal.

You will either win or lose.

If you win and reach your goal, you get money.

If you lose and don’t reach your goal, you don’t win money.

Simple enough concept, right?

2. Calculate Your Weight Loss Goal and Prize (using the HealthyWage calculator)

To get started, you begin by using the HealthyWage calculator.

You use the calculator to figure out how much weight you want to lose, how much money you’re willing to bet, and how long it’ll take you to reach your weight loss goal.

You must want to lose a minimum of 10% of your starting weight, in order to participate.

The minimum amount that you’re required to bet is at least $5/month and you can bet a maximum of up to $995/month.

You must set an expected target date for achieving your weight loss goal at a minimum of six months out, up to maximum of 18 months out.

When you join you also need to provide additional information like your gender, your weight, and your height.

Using the HealthyWage calculator is pretty fun and you can play around with the numbers until you’re happy with your Healthy wager amount and price.

The process to sign up and create your account is simple.

You’ll be prompted to input your payment information and pick if you want to pay monthly or all up front.

Team Challenges are a little different and require a $25 monthly fee if you’re joining through a company like your workplace for example, and $33 monthly if you’re joining a randomly assigned team.

Then, you verify your weight, which kicks off the challenge.

3. Verify Your Weight

You can verify your weight with your doctor, at a Weight Watchers meeting, or at your gym.

If you’re not a member of a gym or Weight Watchers you can still participate by arranging a free visit with one of their partners.

There’s also an option to verify your weight using an at-home scale and submitting a picture using their app.

Lastly, lose weight and win money!

If you meet your weight loss goal, HealthyWage will pay you in cash.

If you happen to not meet your weight loss goal then your monthly contributions will be forfeited and used to support other HealthyWage participants.

How Does the HealthyWage Calculator Work?

You can play around with the calculator as much as you’d like to see what you can win.

Then, find out your prize.

And, lastly, make your bet.

This is a fun part of the process.

You can check out the calculator here and take a look.

Is HealthyWage a Scam?

During our research and review, we have determined that HealthyWage is legit and not a scam.

They started back in 2009 so the company is over 10 years old and they have been showcased on a number of media publications like Good Morning America.

Not to mention they also have an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau and they have mostly positive reviews.

Other Opportunities to Win Money on HealthyWage?

There are other ways to win money with HealthyWage through team challenges.

Team Challenges make up a big part of the HealthyWage system since the whole challenge concept is a big part of the motivation that helps participants lose weight.

They encourage people to form teams which can be a group of co-workers, people from church, friends and family or any other group of people, including strangers.

The top prize awarded to teams is $10,000.

Corporate Challenges?

You can participate in HealthyWage with your employer.

Like Weight Watchers at Work, HealthyWage does offer a free program for employers and government contractors.

In addition to team challenges you can also make money through referrals.

Healthywage offers a really attractive referral system where they will pay you $40 for each friend that you refer who joins a challenge.

If they sign up during the first 10 days of your challenge the referral bonus increases from $40 to $100.

To really make the most money with HealthyWage, consider participating in multiple challenges at once.

How does this work?

Users are allowed to do a Team Challenge and a HealthyWage challenge simultaneously up to a max of 10 challenges.

But, keep in mind that you are unable to do two simultaneous individual weight loss challenges at once.

That’s because you can only have one individual weight loss bit at a time.

Make sense?

Why HealthyWage Works?

What makes HealthyWage so fun is the financial incentive.

Plus adding a game/challenge spin to it which helps add an extra level of motivation and helps with the accountability aspect.

Not to mention team challenges also provide a feeling of community and competition which can be powerful in helping you reach your goals.

Another neat benefit is there a huge Facebook group.

If you’re like me, you love Facebook groups and having a huge group of members that are in the HealthyWage network make it feel even easier to achieve your weight loss goals through the supportive community.

It’s super motivating to hear other people’s stories, struggles, advice, challenges and it’s neat to connect with others who are trying to achieve a similar goal to you.

Advantages of Using HealthyWage

  • Financial incentive to lose weight
  • Individual and team challenge options
  • The chance to win up to $10,000
  • Community support

Disadvantages of Using HealthyWage

  • Pay to participate

Alternatives to HealthyWage?

If you’re curious about other options to lose weight aside from HealthyWage, check out this roundup of other companies to help you meet your weight loss goals.

Dietbet lets you set up or join a weight loss challenge.

They have helped over 750,000 people lose weight and win over 62 million dollars.

Here’s how it works:

You bet on yourself to lose weight then if you reach the goal you split the pot.

Kickstarter vs. Transformer

A Kickstarter is someone who wants to lose 4% of your weight in 4 weeks.

After 4 weeks, whoever has lost 4% of their body weight will split the pot.

Then there’s the Transformer who wants to lose 10% of their body weight in 6 months.

Everyone who wins splits the pot equally and there are also interim goals and prizes each month to help you stay on track.

Sounds like a fun way to lose weight, doesn’t it?

Two days before the game begins you’ll weigh in so you can officially submit your starting weight.

In addition, you’ll submit two photosL one standing on a scale in lightweight clothing and another photo of the scale’s read out with your weigh-in word written on a piece of paper.

The weigh-in word acts as a timestamp when the photo was taken so it’ll change depending on when you weigh in.

You will need the following:

  • A scale ( Digital Preferred)
  • A smartphone or digital camera
  • A full-length mirror or someone available to take your photo

Lastly, you play.

You can use Dietbet to post photos, comments, get weight loss tips, and more.

You can even invite your friends to help cheer you on.

You’re able to update your weigh as often as you’d like and although self-reported weigh-ins are unofficial, they can help you stay accountable.

For your convenience Dietbet is available on IOS and Android devices.

On the last day you’ll have your weigh-out which will give you 48 hours to weigh yourself.

And then if you win, then guess what?

You just got paid to lose weight.

Within 24 hours after your final weigh out, the results are made official and the pot is divided among the winners.

Winners are notified by email.

You can apply your winnings to your next Dietbet or cash out via PayPal.

And that’s how it works.

It happens.

You might need a little more time to reach your goal.

You do have the option to “Buy More Time.”

This option will be available on your HealthyWager dashboard until the end date of your challenge.

Buying more time will add 6 months and 6 installments to your challenge and the prize and weight loss goal will remain the same.

12. How do I pay for the challenge?

Paying for the challenge is available through credit card or debit card.

You get full control over how much you “wager” each month.

You have the option to:

  • Pay the full amount up front or,
  • Pay in monthly installments

If you choose the monthly installment option then your card will be automatically charged every 30 days for the remainder of the challenge.

And, if choosing to pay in installments, the first payment is due when you signup (payments start on the day you sign up, independent of when you submit your verified weigh-in).

13. Do I have to hit any monthly weight loss milestones?

No, monthly weight loss milestones are not part of the program.

Even if you select the monthly installment payment option, your goal remains the same.

You should aim to hit your weight loss goal by the end of your challenge (there is an option to weigh-out anytime in the last 2 weeks of the challenge).

There is no monthly weigh-in requirement.

14. Can I participate if I am pregnant?

No but you can sign up after you’ve had your baby, if your doctor approves.

15. What if I get pregnant after I sign up?

If you get pregnant after you sign up for the challenge, your challenge is suspended.

All you have to do is contact HealthyWage to alert them when you think you might be pregnant.

You have 60 days after that to supply proof of pregnancy from your clinic/doctor.

Once your pregnancy is confirmed, your remaining installment payments are paused and your challenge is paused.

After your doctor clears you to start the program again, your payment plan can be reinstated and you can start your challenge over or complete your remaining months.

If you choose to start over, you will need to submit a new verified weigh-in.

Regardless of which option you choose, you will only need to pay the remaining number monthly installments from your original wager which means that your payments may end before your challenge ends.
