If you’re a commuter that takes public transportation, this is the perfect time turn that hour long bus ride into a chance to make some cash. Chances are you’ll appreciate the ride a little more.
Below are 12 of the highest paying online surveys to start taking today so you can earn cash and maybe even some merchandise on the spot.
Want to skip through the reviews and get straight to it? Here’s a quick list of our top 5 in no particular order:
- Survey Junkie (great surveys with great payout)
- Vindale Research ($2 sign-up bonus)
- Pinecone Research (flat $3 per survey)
- Swagbucks ($5 sign-up bonus)
- Ipsos i-Say (surveys + chance to win prize drawings)
I’ll start with one of the more popular online survey platforms and that is Survey Junkie. Survey Junkie is a legit way to make money and quickly. For a more in depth review on Survey Junkie, click here.
As I mentioned above, you won’t get rich by taking surveys (so please don’t quit your day job) but you can take enough surveys to earn a decent amount of money in very little time. The rewards vary from survey to survey and there are always opportunities to earn extra.
To become a member of Survey Junkie, you have to be at least 13 years old (hello summer job with minimal effort) and reside in the United States (U.S.), Canada, United Kingdom (UK), New Zealand or Australia. In order to earn cash, you must first earn points.
For every survey taken you are allotted a certain amount of points. Each survey will let you know how many points you can earn. You must follow through completely with the survey or questionnaire in order to receive your points; this is not the time to cut corners.
After you’ve reached 1000 points you can then redeem that for cash either as an e-gift card, cash in your PayPal account or money transferred to your bank account using Dwolla.
The best part about Survey Junkie is that your points are awarded instantly. You can generally expect to earn anywhere from 50-200 points for a survey. 100 points is the equivalent of $1.
The longer the survey, the more points are awarded. And, as an added bonus, your points never expire so you can wait to cash out big at the end of the year if you like.
1000 points equates to $10, which is the minimum payout. You can wait to accumulate more or choose to get paid every 1000 points earned. It’s up to you.
If you play your cards right, you could aim to earn at least $10 a week if not more. The amount of surveys taken is up to you, but keep in mind you may not qualify for every survey. Even so, you’ll get a few points for your efforts.
Another survey option for you is Vindale Research. Similar to Survey Junkie, Vindale Research operations are in the U.S., UK, Canada and Australia.
Unlike the above, Vindale Research does not rely on a point system but delivers cash directly. Although, if you follow them through their various social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) than you can find challenges and alerts for reward codes that will give you more chances to earn extra cash.
I’ll be honest, Vindale Research has some mixed reviews in terms of the pros and cons. Click here for the Frugal For Less review.
One con for you might be the minimum $50 cash payout. With surveys ranging from as low as $.25 to $3.00, it could take a while to reach $50. Especially if you don’t meet the criteria of every survey you try to take
But, Vindale Research does try to help you earn extra through several perks. For instance, you get $1 just for signing up. They also give $5 for every referral that results in a new sign-up. Spread the word to enough of your friends and you can reach $50 fairly quickly.
They also give $5 if you post a photo or video of yourself showcasing your earnings. And you can earn around $.30 just for clicking on the emails they send you.
In the beginning, you may feel a bit overwhelmed by the number of emails sent. You can simply create a separate folder and go through the emails at your leisure at a later time.
Taking the time to check out Vindale Research may just be worth your time for the instant cash you are looking for. But, keep in mind that simply because a survey is sent to you doesn’t mean you’ll automatically qualify. If you are kicked out of the survey simply move on to the next one and hope it is the right one for you.
Pinecone Research is one of the top survey sites out there. The beauty of Pinecone Research is that they pay a minimum of $3 (300 points) for taking a survey. Most of their surveys take approximately 15 minutes and they rarely disqualify you from taking the survey.
With Pinecone Research, you earn points for every survey taken, though your points do not immediately show up in your account and could take anywhere from 3-5 days to post. Also, your points won’t expire unless your account shows zero activity for 12 consecutive months.
Similar to Survey Junkie, these points can be redeemed for cash or gift cards or music or a slew of other things. Thankfully you are not required to meet a minimum if you do want to cash out. If you’ve earned $3, you can cash out via PayPal if you like (though the first payment will be a paper check in the mail).
Another perk of Pinecone Research is that at the end of taking a survey, you could be asked to be sent a product to test for free. Often times you will be allowed to keep that item and earn extra for giving your honest feedback.
This company wants you to make money. They are working with top brands and are legitimately looking to hear what you think, hence the higher payout.
That being said, they are very exclusive and particular about the participants they are looking for. While you can go to their website for information, you cannot sign up there.
There are two ways to become a member. One is to be invited, where they reach out to you via email and the other way to sign up is if they advertise it online on various websites via a paid banner.
You are in luck my friends, because by using our affiliate link here, you can sign up directly with Pinecone Research without needing to search for them or wait for them to find you. You’ll be given a short questionnaire to determine if you fit the demographic they need to fill.
Because they are exclusive, you very rarely will receive junk surveys that kick you out because you don’t qualify. Because of the thorough demographic check, they are generally sending surveys that apply to you.
Making money on Swagbucks is probably one of the most user-friendly survey sites on this list
Swagbucks is a rewards site that allows you to earn points by taking surveys, shopping online, watching videos or playing games. These points can later be redeemed for gift cards to some of your favorite stores like Amazon and Best Buy or receive cash via PayPal.
As usual, you may not qualify for every survey that you take and could get kicked out after a few minutes. In general, you will be able to find a few surveys that are a good fit for you.
Swagbucks is free to join, so the first step is to sign-up and their current sign-on bonus offers 1000 points for spending $25 in a store featured on their website. Every 100 points earned is the equivalent of $1. So for signing up and spending $25, they are giving back $10.
The beauty of SwagBucks is that you can earn points for doing your daily browsing of the web, but the best way is to earn money by taking surveys. The surveys vary in length, but in general their longer surveys will be the most bang for your buck…if you have a half an hour to spare.
You could easily crank out a few surveys every morning and likely accumulate 100 to 200 SwagBucks by the time you finish your second cup of coffee. Do that every morning and you could have $8 – $10 worth of points in your account by the end of the week.
Occasionally you could receive emails asking you to sign up to try something like Hulu or Netflix for a large amount of SwagBucks…think nearly 3000 points. That’s $30 to try a product that’s only $8 for a trial period.
If you cancel your subscription before a full month is up, then that’s easily $22 bucks you made to watch some of your favorite shows. That is what we call a win.
If you are a U.S. or Canadian citizen then MyPoints might be the survey site for you. To start off, once you sign up, you’ll get an additional $5 after taking your first five surveys. From there earning points is an easy and quick process.
Like the some of the survey sites mentioned above, MyPoints allows you to accumulate points in various ways. You can take surveys, click on emails, watch videos or shop online.
All of it works to gain you more points and touching on each different aspect of point earning will only help you get a lot of points that much faster.
One awesome perk of MyPoints is there referral program. Any friend you refer that signs up with MyPoints will earn you 10% of the earnings they make. Start emailing your friends now (after you sign up of course).
Once you’ve reached 700 points, which equates to $5, you can then redeem that for a gift card to a multitude of stores, or you can have that as cash on a prepaid Visa or deposited directly into you PayPal. Though there is a $25 minimum you must accrue before you can move the money to your PayPal account.
As with all surveys, there is a chance you won’t qualify for a specific survey you have started but to be fair, MyPoints will still give you a few points just for trying.
And they give you your points immediately, so you don’t have to wait to reach that goal of 700 points or more. While most surveys you can expect at least a dollar, some of their surveys offer as much as $6 upon completion of the survey.
MyPoints also has a nifty app available on both Android and IOS phones. It’s easy to use and makes taking surveys on the go that much easier. They’ll give you 100 points just for downloading the app.
PointClub is another site that offers up surveys for points that can later be redeemed for cash or more specifically gift cards to use as cash. 1000 points is the equivalent of $1 and their average survey offers anywhere from 200 – 2000 points.
The more information you provide PointClub, the more points you can start off with. You can earn an additional 500 points for providing information like your Facebook or Google + account.
While PointClub is one of the better survey platforms offering a larger payout, they do take longer to give you your points. After completing a survey, there is a 2-4 week review period to make sure that everything looks good. While you will see points in your account, they won’t be bankable until after this review period.
Do not let this review period stop you from taking surveys. Chances are very rare that a survey will come back as invalid (unless you were giving fake or weird answers). After the review period, your points becomes yours without question to redeem however you like.
7. Ipsos I-Say
Ipsos is an excellent site that allows you to make real money taking surveys. And on the plus side, they are available to various countries and are for those individuals 18 and up. You can sign up today for free.
With Ipsos, you will earn points for every survey you take and you will earn additional points for every survey completed. On the lower end you can expect to earn about $.45 a survey and at most $2 a survey. On average most people earn $.90 for the surveys taken.
If you qualify and complete at least 10 of these in a week, you could have already earned $10. That averages out to 2 surveys a day…if you stay consistent and if surveys are regularly delivered to your email.
Like all survey sites, they are looking for a specific demographic, so answer your questions honestly and keep your fingers crossed that you meet their market research requirements.
Similar to other survey sites, Ipsos offers payouts in the forms of gift cards or PayPal deposits. The point and payout balance is also similar to other sites. For instance, 500 points is the equivalent of a $5 Walmart gift card.
You will regularly be sent surveys directly to your email. After completing a survey, your points will be available immediately . They also offer a loyalty program that will give you an additional 200 points for completing 50 surveys within a calendar year.
You do have to reach a minimum of 500 points before you can redeem them, but they make it pretty easy by providing several surveys throughout the week and these surveys generally have a high point payout.
If politics are your jam, then YouGov is the right place for you. Get paid to give your opinion on politics, public affairs, products and several other topics. It’s easy, it’s simple, and we’ve reviewed all ins and outs of this survey site.
Most of the YouGov surveys are short, so you can make your way through several of them in under an hour. For every survey completed you will recieve points. Sensing a theme? Yes, these points can then be redeemed for cash via gift cards, prepaid Visas or Paypal.
If you take any survey during a given week, you will automatically be entered into one of their prize drawings. This is a perfect chance to win something awesome like an iPad or Tablet.
By signing up now and completing their two short welcome surveys, you’ll earn 100 points right off the bat. After that, for every survey you take, you can expect to earn anywhere from 500-1000 points.
If you accumulate 5000 points, YouGov will send you $50. It’s that easy, no questions asked.
9. Survey Club
Like all the above surveys, the same general set-up goes for this one. Join their site for free and start taking surveys to earn cash. And yes that’s cash and not points. You can find more details here, but I’ll break down the basics below if you want to get straight to the good stuff.
As soon as you reach $20, you can request a payout in the form of a prepaid Visa, PayPal or choose from a wide range of gift cards.
How many surveys you receive in a given day will depend on the information you provide, but you can expect to receive as least a few emails weekly to maximize your earning potential. You are also not likely to get kicked out of surveys, so expect to complete a few of them.
As usual, the longer the survey the more cash you can expect to receive. You should expect to make at least $1 for the average, daily survey. If you can do that several times a week, you should easily reach $20 for the cash payout.
Surveys are the gift that keep on giving. And Springboard America is yet another option to earn money simply by giving your opinion.
Springboard America operates on the point system and their surveys average about $.50 to $3 per survey. 100 points is the equivalent of $1 for a point to cash comparison.
Their surveys are quick and easy, but the payout takes a bit of time to reach. You have to accumulate $50 before you can actually do something with the cash earned, but it’s a $50 you can reach fairly quickly just by taking a few surveys in your free time.
Just this past July they have awarded their members a combined amount of $65,000. They are a legitimate company and you could be one of their lucky members by signing up today.
Like several of the platforms I have mentioned, MySurvey is easy to use and pays its users well.
The average survey will earn you anywhere from 30-100 points and can take about ten minutes of your time. These points are then converted to cash. You will need a minimum of 1000 points (roughly $10) in order to redeem your points.
Another easy way to make money through MySurvey is to recommend the site to your friends. When your friends sign up, you will get an additional 150 points. That’s $1.50 earned just by sending a few emails. And if you can get around 7 friends to sign up, you’ll have met your $10 minimum easily.
In addition, completing surveys will earn you automatic entries into their monthly sweepstakes. A winner is selected each month and receives 10,000 points. While chances are slim for actually winning, that’s your chance at $100.
Do not hesitate to take at least one survey. The more you take, the better your chances. It’s free to sign up so there’s no need to wait.
12. Yo Opinion
Yo Opinion is the U.S. version of Panel Opinion, which is a UK based survey site. All the same information applies, except you’ll earn real dollars and not pounds.
Yo Opinion has a low payout of only $10 and you can earn around .50 per 10 minute survey. Once you acquire the minimum $10, you can collect your cash via PayPal or a bank transfer.
Another added bonus is that they pay you in cash versus points. You’ll know exactly how much you have earned and can cash out as soon as you reach $10 or more.
Their surveys are straightforward, rarely kick you out, and you’ll earn exactly what the survey tells you up front.
You probably won’t get rich taking these surveys (unless you qualify for every single one and basically want to spend the rest of your life in front of a computer) but you can definitely make enough money to put toward your long term saving goals or to splurge on a trip to the Bahamas.
Your best bet would be to test out a few of the mentioned survey sites to see which one works best for you and which one gives you the kind of payout you are looking for.
You don’t have to dedicate your life to taking surveys, but if you find yourself with some down time or stuck on the bus or train, wouldn’t it be better to utilize your time in a way that benefits you in the best possible way?
Start taking a few surveys today and you might just be $20 or more richer by the end of the month, or if you are really diligent, by the end of the week. Good Luck!
