How much do you think your friendship is worth? RentAFriend, an online service that lets you rent out your friendship, claims you can make as much as $2,000 a week being a full-time companion.
The service was originally designed for those who are in town for a short term or on a business conference and hope to have someone show them around town for a day. However, the site has been continually expanding and has grown to much more than just finding a tour guide.
Now you can find others with unique talents and pay them for learning new skills such as dancing, singing, learning a new language. If you want someone to hang out with, you can find someone to go watch that movie you’ve been wanting to see or to that restaurant you’ve wanted to try but don’t want to go alone.
If you have a skill or talent that you’d like to promote, consider signing-up for RentAFriend and make a few extra dollars in your spare time. Not only that, but this is a great chance to meet new people and experience many different types of situations.
It looks like I’ve been wasting my time hanging out with my real friends for free when I could’ve been making money in the process. ;)
How Much Can I Make With RentAFriend?
While on the higher-end you could be making $2,000 a week being another person’s companion, you’re more likely to receive a lot less when starting out. You can set your own rates on the website, anywhere from $10 to $50 an hour.
On RentAFriend you are your own boss and you can choose which activities you want to do and how much to charge for each one. No minimum hours are required meaning you can work when you want to and however many hours you want to.
For example, if someone wants to go out to eat with you, maybe only charge him/her $10 dollars an hour and have him/her pay for your meal. However, if someone wants to learn a language that you happen to know, you can raise the price and charge them $20 dollars an hour since it’s a valuable skill set that you’re offering.
Yet the best part is the free benefits involved. By agreeing to rent out your friendship, you may find yourself going to a concert for free and getting paid to do so. Here are some of the more common activities that current RentAFriend members have been contacted for:
- Comedy Clubs
- Much more!

I don’t live in a large city and found about 50 people in my area willing to rent out their friendship.
