If you want to sell art online, using a popular platform is your best bet.
There are dozens of websites for selling handmade items, drawings, paintings, and everything in between.
Below you’ll find nine websites that let you make money selling art online.
For each platform listed, you can read about their history, how they work, selling fees, and more.
Etsy is one of the most well-known websites for selling art, handmade goods, and vintage items.
Etsy allows you to sell handmade items, craft supplies, and vintage items that are at least 20 years old.
Bestselling art on Etsy includes paintings, prints, printable goods, and home decor.
When you register as a seller, it’s easy to set up your shop. Etsy helps guide you through creating your online store, filling out your profile, listing products, and more.
Etsy Seller Fees
Etsy charges $0.20 per listing, and each listing is active for four months. They charge a 5% fee for each sale you make, and a payment processing fee of 3% + $0.25.
Etsy Seller Payment
Your Etsy earnings are deposited directly into your bank account. The default payment schedule sends payments weekly on Monday, but you can also choose from daily, biweekly, or monthly payments.
Redbubble is a marketplace where artists can sell their art by having it printed on high-quality products. The company does the work for you by printing your artwork onto t-shirts, mugs, stickers, posters, and so much more.
You always choose what type of products your artwork is printed on, and you don’t have to keep any inventory at home. When a customer places an order, Redbubble adds your design to goods and ships them to customers.
Redbubble Seller Fees
Redbubble doesn’t charge a fee for listing your art. You set the artist margin for your work, and how much you earn is based on this simple formula: (base product price) + (artist margin) = (retail price).
The base product price is set by Redbubble for the different products they offer. For example, the base product price of a t-shirt may be $18.00, you set an artist margin of 16%, and the retail price for buyers is $20.88.
When you sell a t-shirt at that price, you earn $2.88 per shirt sold. You can adjust your artist margin at any time, and the average seller earns a 17% margin.
Redbubble Seller Payment
Redbubble sends seller payments via direct deposit or PayPal, and there are no processing fees. You get paid when an order is shipped if there is at least $20 in your account earnings.
Fiverr is a freelance service marketplace with 5.5 million buyers and 830,000 sellers, and 50 million sales are made each month. You create listings called gigs, and your gigs are displayed to Fiverr’s global audience.
You can sell hundreds of art-related goods such as logo designs, illustrations, comics, portraits, greeting cards, arts and crafts, and more. Explore the different seller categories to see all of your unique options.
Sellers set their own gig prices anywhere between $5 to $1,000. You can set a base price for a gig, and you can offer extra add-ons to earn even more.
Fiverr Seller Fees
Fiverr doesn’t charge any type of seller fees such as listing fees. Fiverr takes a 20% commission per gig, so make sure to factor that into your pricing.
There are processing fees for withdrawing payment, and they vary depending on the payment method you choose.
Fiverr Seller Payment
Once you deliver a gig, your earnings stay pending for 14 days. After this waiting period, you can withdraw your earnings via PayPal, direct deposit, or additional methods based on your location.
CafePress is another very popular platform where you can add your artwork to all types of products. Some examples include apparel, drinkware, phone cases, home decor, and stickers.
You upload your artwork, and CafePress takes care of printing your art onto products you choose. When a buyer places an order, the platform takes care of shipping for you.
You have control of the markup you add to base product prices, so this will determine your exact earnings. Instead of a percentage markup, you choose a dollar amount.
CafePress uses a formula that’s similar to RedBubble – (base price) + (markup) = (retail price). So if the base price of a product is $20, and you set a margin of $5, buyers get a retail price of $25.
CafePress Seller Fees
If you set your product markup higher than $15, CafePress charges a five percent transaction fee. If you set your product markup higher than $20, an additional $0.25 is added on top of that.
Fees for payment process are not mentioned, but PayPal processing fees are likely. You can view a PayPal fees chart to learn more.
CafePress Seller Payment
Sellers can choose either check or PayPal for payments. You need an account balance of $25 for a PayPal payment or $100 for a check.
Payment is made within 60 days of making a sale. There’s a waiting period because CafePress offers a 30-day satisfaction guarantee to buyers.

You get to set the prices for your artwork, and Creative Market provides a free suggested price tool. The suggested prices are based on similar products in the same category, so this makes it easy to choose competitive prices.
There is no cost to open your shop with Creative Market, but you’ll need to fill out a short application first. There are also no listing fees for the products you sell.
Creative Market Seller Fees
Creative Market charges a 30% commission on every sale you make. This may seem high, but the lack of other fees helps balance it. The commission charge even covers payment processing, so it’s the single fee you have to pay.
Creative Market Seller Payment
Sellers are paid via ACH deposit, PayPal, or wire transfer. You can request your monthly earnings at any time. Payouts are sent at the end of the month and usually received by the 10th of each month.

Saatchi Seller Fees
Saatchi doesn’t charge fees for listings or memberships, and they handle the marketing process for your artwork. The only downside is that they take a 35% commission, so factor that into your pricing.

It’s 100% free to create a seller shop and list your products. Threadless even takes care of payment, packing, shipping, and customer messages for you.
Threadless Seller Fees
Threadless doesn’t charge any seller fees at all. They make their profit from the pricing formula mentioned above.
You may be responsible for PayPal fees when you withdraw your earnings.
Threadless Seller Payments

Tips For Selling Your Art Online
With so many great platforms, there’s a lot of competition among artists. Here are some tips you can follow to boost your chances of successful sales:
- Take high-quality pictures of your art. Make sure that your pictures are taken in a room with plenty of light. Take pictures at different angles and include close-ups. This helps buyers see every single detail.
- Provide plenty of detail in your profile and listings. Check out some popular listings on the platform you use. What info do the sellers list in their shop profiles? How do they describe the products they sell? Use this info as inspiration.
- Set competitive prices. Some platforms suggest prices based on average listings. You can also browse listings for products like yours. This may help you determine fair but competitive prices for your art.
- Share your listings on social media. Spread the word about your art! Use Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and other platforms to link back to your shop/listings. Make sure to use popular, relevant hashtags to reach a wider audience.
- Respond to buyers as quickly as possible. When a potential buyer messages you, reply ASAP. Delivering good customer service can help you get repeat customers.
- List your items across multiple platforms. In many cases, you can list the same art on multiple sites. If you aren’t sure about the rules, check the FAQ pages or terms and conditions.
