Back before I started blogging and was making very little money from my part-time job, online survey sites became like a godsend to me.
I did as many as I could in order to generate some extra cashflow and essentially help support myself.
While the surveys can be a bit tedious at times, by finding the right ones you can earn a decent wage.
Fortunately, I was able to find 10 top ones that I could switch back and forth between.
In order to minimize the amount of free time I poured into doing these online survey sites, I tried to get creative and complete them whenever possible.
I would do them while waiting in line, waiting for an appointment, or whenever I had a few spare minutes to kill at work.
I was able to channel those few extra moments into generating some extra cash and destress my financial life.
I’m hoping these 10 top survey sites can help you achieve the same.
Why Can’t I Use Just One Survey Site?
It would be nice to just keep track of one survey site so you wouldn’t have to log-in to multiple accounts.
However, this is far from the case if you want to earn a decent amount.
To put it simply, most survey sites won’t be able to provide enough surveys for you to be constantly earning.
What we can do instead is find the best survey sites out there and limit the amount of resources you use.
Not only will this maximize the use of your time and the income you make, but it will help to declutter your mind by not having to use multiple accounts.

- Estimated Earnings: $5 – $18 per hour

- Join Survey Junkie
This survey site is available to users of Canada, the US and Australia with plans to expand to the UK and New Zealand.
Survey Junkie wants their users to only take a few surveys a day.
This is because they firmly believe that your responses will start to get sloppy after taking so many surveys in a row.
While you can take more than just a few, you’ll quickly run out of available surveys if you do. Survey Junkie rewards users who frequently take surveys, so the more surveys you take the more that will be available to you.
The one downside with Survey Junkie is their eligibility requirements.
Sometimes you’ll be a few questions in only to find out you’re not eligible to finish a survey due to the responses you’ve provided.
However, usually they let you know within the first couple of questions so you don’t have to waste time finishing a survey only to not get paid.
With Survey Junkie, you have the potential to earn anywhere from $5 – $18 per hour.
If you’re looking to earn on the higher side, you’re going to be limited in the amount of surveys you can take.
The majority of surveys pay around $7 – $10 per hour.
We suggest taking a medium to high-range paying survey in order to have enough surveys to complete and not waste too much time on lower-paying surveys.

- Registration Bonus: $5 (may vary)
- Join Swagbucks
Swagbucks is one of the most popular rewards site out there, especially since they offer a multitude of ways to earn extra cash. Get paid to do things you would normally do on a daily basis – watch videos, shop online, take polls, sign-up for free trial offers, play games and more.
When you complete a task on Swagbucks, you earn points called Swagbucks. These can be exchanged for gift cards to popular retailers such as Amazon or for direct deposits to PayPal. 100 Swagbucks is equal to $1 USD.
When it comes to the survey section, Swagbucks is completely honest about how long each survey is expected to take as well as the payout. This makes it easier for you to sift through which surveys are worth your time. In order to unlock their survey list, you first need to take a four minute survey.
If you’re a quick survey taker, you can earn anywhere from $5 – $10 per hour. However, we will admit that there are a lot of lower-end surveys that only pay you at the rate of around $2 – $3 per hour. We suggest either skipping these ones or completing other tasks on the Swagbucks site to earn more money. You can also earn on the go with their free mobile app.
One of the best things about Swagbucks is their referral program. For each friend you refer that signs-up using your link, you get a bonus of 10% of all their earnings for life. A great way to spread the word is through Facebook or Twitter.
If you’re looking to earn other ways with Swagbucks, we suggest checking out our guide to earn $30 a month passively watching videos with Swagbucks.
- Estimated Earnings: $3 – $10 per hour
- Registration Bonus: $2
- Join LifePoints
MySurvey is great due to how straightforward they are with each survey. They always tell you how much each survey pays as well as how long they will take. Although there are surveys that are on the low end, you can still make up to $10 per hour.
It’s important to consistently take surveys with MySurvey. The more you take, the more higher-paying surveys will be awarded to you. It can be a bit frustrating at first since there aren’t that many surveys available, but if you stick with it there will be plenty. After a while, if I had no other survey site to turn to I knew that I could look to MySurvey for some extra cash.
MySurvey also provides a daily poll that only takes a few seconds to complete and gives you 5 free sweepstake entries. Although the chances are slim that you’ll win, it never hurts to try.
You won’t be able to make a killing with MySurvey, but it’s definitely one of the more reliable survey sites out there. One of the more frustrating things I’ve encountered with this site is their lengthy payout rate. Sometimes it can take a few weeks before points are rewarded, but they always end up paying.
- Estimated Earnings: $10 – $12 per hour
- Registration Bonus: $1
- Join Vindale Research
The thing that I love about Vindale Research is that I never run out of survey options. I sometimes find that I can even take the same survey multiple times per day. When it comes to quantity of surveys, this site will never fail.
Vindale Research gets you started off with a $2 sign-up bonus. Keep in mind that they have plenty of low-paying and high-paying surveys. For this reason, if you want to make the most of your time and effort, you’re going to have to stick to the higher-paying ones to earn anything decent.
Occasionally, Vindale Research will reward its users by offering them $75 per survey. These surveys usually take a few hours to complete, but are definitely worth it. Unfortunately, these surveys don’t come around too often, and are usually given to the more frequent survey takers.
The other great thing about Vindale Research is their affiliate program. For every friend you refer that completes their first survey, you get a $5 bonus.

- Estimated Earnings: $5 – $10 per hour (with surveys only)
- Registration Bonus: Chance to earn $10
- Join MyPoints
Similar to Swagbucks, MyPoints rewards you for completing a wide range of tasks such as watching videos, playing games, shopping online, referring friends and completing surveys. Even if you stick to only completing surveys on their site, you can still earn at a rate of $10 per hour.
One of the great things about MySurvey is that when you earn your first $20, you’ll automatically be given a $10 bonus. This is one of the highest registration bonuses out of all survey sites across the web.
MyPoints also has one of the better referral programs out there. Earn 25 points when your friend joins, another 1,750 when they earn their first $20, and in addition 10% of all of their earnings. You won’t find this great of a deal with other sites on this list.
For those looking to earn more with MyPoints aside from just taking surveys, we highly recommend the shopping online and watching videos. When you shop online by first going to their site, you can earn anywhere from 1% – 5% in cash back.
However, keep in mind that you might be able to earn even more cash back using online shopping portals.
Watching videos is a such an easy task and is mostly passive with MyPoints. Unfortunately, you have to select a new video to play once the one you’re watching finishes.
6. Ipsos i-Say
- Estimated Earnings: $6 – $12 per hour
- Registration Bonus: None
- Join Ipsos i-Say
Don’t let the fact that Ipsos doesn’t come with a registration bonus fool you. This is one of the better survey sites out there due to their great payout with short surveys. Just be sure to take the higher-paying surveys to increase your hourly rate to $10 per hour or more.
The great thing about this survey site is that each time you take a survey, you’re automatically entered in a sweepstakes to win cool prizes such as MP3 players, vacation deals and much more. In order to enter these drawings, no work is required on your end.
With the Ipsos tier-point program you can earn even more. For example, when you complete 5 surveys you’re automatically granted a bonus of 25 points. Take even more and you’ll be given even more points.
We recommend everyone at least try Ipsos to see how it works for them. Keep in mind that this site heavily depends on your demographics, so it may be possible that you end up with low-paying surveys or really high-paying surveys.
- Estimated Earnings: $12 – $18 per hour
- Registration Bonus: None
- Join Pinecone Research
When it comes to pure earnings, you’re not going to find a survey site much better than Pinecone Research. Each survey pays out at a flat rate of $3 and takes anywhere from 10 – 15 minutes, meaning you’re earning at a rate of $12 – $18 per hour. If you had to choose only one survey site, we’d recommend this one.
Unfortunately, you only receive 1-2 new surveys per week, so the amount you can earn is a bit limited. Most of the questions ask about your shopping and spending habits. One of the great things I love about this site is their email notification system – you can only take a survey if you receive an email reminder.
If you start earning with Pinecone Research, we highly suggest you stick with it. This is because users who stop taking surveys will quickly have their account suspended. While you can email them asking for them to send you surveys again, it might be a bit more difficult the second time around.
Some people report that it’s a bit difficult to get accepted to Pinecone Research since they only accept applicants on a case-by-case basis, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try. If you don’t get accepted the first time, be sure to apply a second time. I didn’t get in until my second request.
- Estimated Earnings: $5 – $20 per hour
- Registration Bonus: $2
- Join YouGov
If you’re really into politics and staying up-to-date with politics, then YouGov is the right survey site for you. Get paid to share your opinions about what’s going on in the world. What’s really cool about this survey site is that you get to see everyone’s results to very interesting questions.
While it’s not the highest-paying, it’s by far the most enjoyable. This is the survey site I always turn to when I’m starting to get burnt out on all of the survey sites. Expect to earn around $5 – $15 per hour with YouGov with the potential of making up to $20 (provided you take very few surveys).
The amount you can cash out for completely depends on the prize – the same amount of points can get you a $25 gift card to one retailer but only $20 to another.
What I’ve found is that there are a lot of really short surveys that only take 1-2 minutes and pay anywhere from $.20 to $.50 cents. While these are few and far between, I tend to jump on them as soon as I can since the payout is so high. On average, expect surveys to pay around $10 per hour.
One of the great things about YouGov is their referral program. For each friend that you refer that uses your sign-up link, you get a bonus of $2 and so does your friend. Convince them how great the site is to try and get them to join.
- Estimated Earnings: $10+ per hour
- Registration Bonus: None
- Join Survey Club
SurveyClub works a little bit differently than the rest of the survey sites on this list. Not only does SurveyClub give you a list of surveys you can partake in, but it also helps you find research studies near you that you can participate in.
The best part about this? Research studies in-person typically pay much more than your online survey sites. Depending on where you live, you can make $50 or more per study. However, keep in mind that these are infrequent.
Not only that, but bigger cities are more likely to have more studies. You also need to keep in mind that if you do go to an in-person study, you will need to calculate the cost of transportation on how to get there.
SurveyClub is one of those survey sites that’s great to check back for every once in a while or setup email notifications. You never know when a big survey is going to come your way.
- Estimated Earnings: $10 – $15 per hour
- Registration Bonus: $5
- Join PointClub
PointClub is one of the most generous online survey sites out there, and they even give you a $5 bonus just for signing-up. With PointClub, you earn rewards in the form of points that can be exchanged for gift cards. With this survey site, 1,000 points is equal to $1 USD.
PointClub also has a leveling up program that gives you a bonus for continually taking surveys. If you log-in 2 days in a row, you’re automatically bumped up to level one. This level gives you a 10% bonus on all survey earnings.
From there on out, for every 5 consecutive days that you log-in, you’re bumped up another level to a maximum level of 10 for a 100% bonus. There are surveys that pay you at a rate of around $6 – $8 per hour. Yet if you get to level 10 by logging-in consecutively, you can easily make around $15 per hour completing surveys with PointClub.
Just don’t forget to set a notification to log-in once a day, because if you forget just once, your bonus earnings start back at 0%. You can also earn more by entering in their SuperCodes found on their Twitter and Facebook accounts. You do not have to take a survey to redeem them.
- Estimated Earnings: $5 – $10 per hour
- Registration Bonus: $5
- Join InboxDollars
InboxDollars is a rewards site similar to Swagbucks in which you can earn cash for completing surveys, watching videos, completing free-trial offers, reading emails, playing games and more. Although not the highest-paying survey site, it’s worth signing-up for the $5 starting bonus.
They tend to have a lot of low-paying surveys, which is why we suggest only spending time with the higher-earning ones. However, if you’re looking for a site that has surveys on-end, InboxDollars is a must. Some of the surveys you can even complete multiple times per day.
If you’re looking to go beyond earning with just surveys, watching videos and reading emails typically give the highest amount of points for your time and effort.
The only downside is their high minimum payout rate at $30. It doesn’t usually take the long to reach with the registration bonus the first time, but after that it may take a bit longer.
- Estimated Earnings: $10+/hour
- Registration Bonus: None
- Join PrizeRebel
PrizeRebel is quickly becoming one of the more popular survey sites out there, forcing us to add this one last site to our list. This survey site is quickly gaining in reputation for being one of the most legitimate survey sites out there.
They always pay on time, and they always pay the right amount. Not only that, but their payout rate is quite good as well. You can easily earn up to $10+ per hour provided that you take the right surveys.
Not only can you get paid for surveys, but PrizeRebel also has a lot of other tasks you can do to earn cash: watching videos, referring friends and more. For each friend you refer, you earn 20% (up to a max of 30%) of their earnings for life.
Are Survey Sites A Scam?
Most people tend to stay away from survey sites because they believe they’re too good to be true. With hundreds of articles promoting that you’ll quickly become rich, it’s no wonder why we think this way.
However, the reason why survey sites are able to pay you at all is because they make a profit from the information that you provide. All of this information is submitted anonymously to companies that use your data for market research in order to improve their products and services.
Fortunately, most of the survey sites out there always pay and pay the right amount, but some are better than others about it. And that’s why I’m writing this article – to break down how much each site pays, how much time it takes and when you’ll get paid. This way you can decide whether these sites are right for you.
What to Look For in Survey Sites
Here’s a quick list of what I recommend to look for in a survey site:
- Payments – Check if they pay in cash, products or gift cards. For me personally, I always prefer cash since I know I can get gift cards at a discount from other sources.
- Hourly Rates – You don’t want to end up taking multiple surveys only to find out that you’re earning at a rate of $3 per hour. There are plenty of survey sites that pay much better than this, and all of them on this list have the potential to earn up to at least $10 per hour.
- Payout Times – This completely depends on you. Some survey sites are able to payout immediately why some may take weeks. Also, be sure to check how they pay. Some survey sites may send checks by mail while others can deposit directly to your PayPal account.
- Amount of Surveys – It’s a bit frustrating and a bit of a time-waster when you log-in ten times a week to a survey site to find out that there’s only one survey available. Take this into consideration when choosing survey sites.
- Free Registration – You should never have to pay for a survey site. If at any time they ask for your credit card information, it most likely is a scam.
I did my best to put together a list of survey sites that take into consideration all of the above factors.
What Are The Highest-Paying Programs On The Internet?
Survey sites are great for earning some extra cash. However, there are other programs out there that can help you earn more with less effort. Here are 3 great programs for increasing your income from beyond just survey sites.
- Registration Bonus: $10
- Join Ibotta
Ibotta is one of the easiest ways to earn cash back from your smartphone. This free mobile app pays you to take pictures of your receipts. Earn cash back on groceries, electronics, meals at restaurants, alcohol, prescriptions and more.
After you make your purchase, claim the product that you wish to receive cash back for. Make sure that it shows up on your receipt. Take a picture of your receipt and earn anywhere between $.25 to $5 in cash back. You can cross this $5 threshold by claiming more than one offer per receipt.
Within 48 hours you’ll receive cash back in your Ibotta account. Once you reach a minimum balance of $20, you can cash out to PayPal, Venmo or for a gift card of your choosing. You even get a $10 bonus just for signing-up as a new user.
Ibotta has recently implemented a new feature that pays you cash back to shop through their partner apps. For example, if you want to shop on Groupon, go to the Ibotta app and find the Groupon link. From there you’ll be automatically redirected to the Groupon app (or be asked to install it if you don’t have it already).
Make your purchase like you normally would and receive 10% in cash back off of your total purchase price. This amount is deposited directly into your Ibotta account. Refer friends and get an additional $5 per referral.
- Registration Bonus: $10
- Join TopCashback
TopCashBack is a shopping portal that gives you cash back for shopping online at over thousands of retailers across the web. Here’s a quick summary of how it works:
- Sign-up for TopCashBack for free and receive a $10 bonus.
- Use their search bar and search for your retailer of choice. If we use Walmart as an example, we see that we can earn 6% in cash back on all purchases (with a few exceptions).
- Click on the “Cashback” button to be redirected to the Walmart page. TopCashBack will automatically keep track of your purchases and will know how much you spend.
- Within 10 days, you’ll receive your 6% cash back in your TopCashBack account. Once you reach a minimum balance of $10 in earned cash back (excluding the $10 sign-up bonus), you can cash out to PayPal or for Amazon gift cards.
The reason TopCashBack is able to pay you is because they receive a commission each time you use one of their links to make a purchase. Instead of keeping these earnings for themselves, they give it back to you in the form of cash back.
Keep in mind that these cash back rates may change. Still confused about how shopping portals work? We’ve written up a shopping portal guide to help you out. Also be sure to check out our list of the top 10 shopping portals.
If you enjoy reading the FFL blog and want to make some extra money, consider starting a blog yourself. I currently earn a full-time living running FFL as well as a few other blogs, receiving income through advertisers and affiliate commissions. Hosting a blog is very inexpensive and can cost as little as $50 per year.
We’ve partnered up with Bluehost in order to bring you a special deal on hosting at only $3.95 per month and a free domain when you use our link to register. =
Domains typically cost $10 per year and other hosting companies can charge up to $7 per month.
Online survey sites are a great way to earn some extra cash. You typically know how much you’re going to earn and how much time they’ll take before you begin. Not only that, but nowadays most survey sites come with a heft sign-up bonus of anywhere between $2 – $10.
What I’ve found is that online surveys are great for when you have a few minutes to spare, such as when you are waiting for an appointment or are spending the last few minutes of your work day in your office.
Will I Get to $300/Month?
Honestly, this all depends on the amount of effort you’re willing to put in. I’ve found that with these 10 survey sites, I’m able to get at least close to $300 and sometimes more depending on the month. Expect to earn a bit more when you first register.
If you see a survey site that’s not on this list and should be, we’d love to hear it in the comments below. Otherwise, feel free to respond with any questions you might have. Thanks for reading and happy frugaling!
