Want to Make Extra Money Now?

Are you considering going to the hair salon to cut off those long dreads? Before going to your local hairstylist, consider selling your hair for some extra cash. A lot of people are willing to pay big bucks if it’s in good quality and looks nice. Find out how to do so by reading the rest of this article.

Don’t Dye Your Hair

Buyers using your hair to make wigs or for hair transplants want hair that has never been treated chemically. This keeps the hair fresh, better looking, and this way it holds its overall strength. When deciding to sell your hair, don’t dye, perm or bleach it.

Grow Out Your Hair

You can always cut your hair if it’s too long, but if it gets too short it won’t grow back if it’s already off your head. Wig makers will receive your hair package and then modify it. If you’ve cut it too short, there’s no way for them to change it. The general rule of thumb is to leave it at 10 inches long.

Diet and exercise affects your hair quality more than you would imagine. Experts have stated that if your diet consists of the right balance of protein, iron and nutrients, your hair will feel and look a lot healthier. Protein is the most important ingredient as that is the main ingredient in each hair follicle. If you ever notice a deficit in your hair, try eating more protein to resolve the issue.

When washing, try not to use shampoo everyday as this will reduce the natural oils found in your hair. Smoking and cities with high pollution can also be detrimental to maintaining a high-quality hairdo.

Where Can I Sell My Hair?

There are multiple businesses that will happily buy back your hair.

  1. HairSellon. They are currently the largest marketplace for selling hair that works directly with its customers. They even have a hair calculator tool. This will help you quickly determine how much cash you can quickly make.
  2. Ebay. Even though it may take a few weeks before your hair finally auctions off, this has to be the most profitable. If you really think your hair has really high value, make sure to set a high minimum bidding price before putting it up for auction.
  3. BuyAndSellHair. This is another online marketplace like Ebay, but used specifically for those that want to buy and sell hair. You set your own offer and contact the buyer directly about how to proceed with the transaction. BuyAndSellHair.com makes it easy and safe for you to sell your hair.
  4. Donate. Feeling generous and don’t need the extra cash? You can always give your hair away to those less fortunate in the hair world (like myself). LocksofLove is a non-profit organization that accepts almost any type of hair, even if it’s been dyed or bleached. They recommend that you go to a salon you’re comfortable with to get your hair cut off before sending it in.

Don’t expect to make a lot of money when selling your hair unless it’s of extremely high-quality. One person managed to sell theirs for $4,000 dollars. Keep in mind that this took them years and years to grow out, and you definitely have to be comfortable with waiting for it to grow back.

Final Thoughts

The great thing about your hair is that when you cut it off, it quickly grows back! This can be a great substitute for some income if you’re experiencing some tough times or some unemployment. Just make you’re comfortable without hair for a while or rocking it with a shorter style.

If you’ve ever bought or sold hair, I’d love to hear about it in the comments below. Thanks for reading and happy hair-selling.
